smith project

new home ... the TARDIS.

Project Brief

Working with such lovely people makes our job a pleasure. This is the Smith’s story…

“Our objectives were to downsize from our large home and to create a practical and very liveable home which included up to date energy efficiency and was designed around the shape, size and outlook of our block. After visiting many display homes we realised none of them worked for our block and the way we wanted to live. So when we met Jo and Garreth, it was great to speak to people who understood our needs.

“After they visited the block we gave them the freedom to create some design ideas, with some of our requirements which was the house was to be 3 bed, 2 baths with open plan kitchen, dining and living. We needed the living rooms to be of northerly aspect and we wanted lots of light-filled rooms.”

Outcome

“We are very happy in our home which is filled with light and space. It is cleverly designed to give you the sense that the parkland is a part of our garden and although it’s on a very small block you don’t feel you’re being overlooked. There are many good design ideas that have produced a very practical, comfortable and stylish home.

“Jo and I worked on the design of our kitchen and I am very happy with the final result as it’s a great kitchen to work in. The process allowed us to be fully involved and we enjoyed this. Jo and Garreth worked with us to move walls, swap rooms around and to produce a home which gives us a so much pleasure to live in.

“The house reminds us of Doctor Who’s TARDIS – looks small from the outside but amazes you when you step inside with its space and light-filled rooms.”

We had a vision of what we wanted, and Jo and Garreth helped us create a house on a small block that we love to live in. Jo and Garreth were very knowledgeable, but also very practical which is what we wanted. They were able to understand what we really wanted in a design and guide us along the way.”
